Millennium WindowsThe new stained glass windows at the west end of the Church were dedicated on Sunday 22 June 2003 by the Right Rev. Stephen Lowe, Bishop of Hulme at a service attended by over 150 people from church and community including Councilor James Hulmes, Mayor of Salford. The Parochial Church Council decided to celebrate the new millennium by raising funds for four new stained glass windows at the west end of the church. The PCC wanted the windows to reflect the nature of the area and community and to include some depictions of Irlam’s industrial past. Working together with the PCC and a group of students from the Irlam and Cadishead Community High School, Pendle Glass has designed and made the windows. The four lights depicting Irlam past, present and future are a marvelous addition to the Church and have been warmly received by everyone who has seen them.
The windows are unified by the rainbow, the sign of God’s covenant of love with all his people and also linked by the four elements of earth, water, fire and air. The windows cost £15,000 most of which came from fundraising and individual donations. If you want to see the windows...we're open every Sunday at 10.30 am!
